I am excited to be back at Collins Intermediate School! I began my teaching career at Collins as a sixth grade teacher in the same classroom that I am currently in. I started teaching after several years in management across the Southeast. I have taught sixth and third grades in Scottsboro City. The past several years, I have been working in the area of gifted education. I am passionate about providing my students with unique experiences while challenging their thinking skills.

I have been married to Michael Shankles for 27 years and we have three boys. My oldest Tyler is a graduate of SHS. After graduating from college, he currently resides in Spanish Fort where he is married to SHS alum Lauren Lackey. My middle son, Arick, attended SHS until his junior year when we transferred to Muscle Shoals. He attends Edinboro University in PA where he currently wrestles. My youngest son, Brennen is also a graduate of Scottsboro High School. He is a current freshman at Edinboro University majoring in sports recreation management.

I enjoy reading a variety of genres and fishing around our local lake. I also love to collect magnets from all of the places that I travel to.

I am passionate about my latest endeavor, establishing the Collins Intermediate Drama Club. We have had a successful first production of Lion King, Jr.
